Health for All.
Access to healthcare is not a privilege; it’s a right. At FTK, we’re working to ensure every mother, child, and family in Lower Moshi can access quality healthcare, learn about nutrition and hygiene, and live healthier lives.
The Challenge in Lower Moshi
In Lower Moshi, healthcare access remains limited. The region has one private hospital (TPC Hospital) and nine dispensaries (seven government-run, two faith-based). Communities face:
Poor infrastructure and transport barriers
Frequent stock-outs of essential medicines
Shortages of trained healthcare staff
Limited maternal and child health services
Lack of hygiene and nutrition awareness, leading to issues like iron deficiency in children
These challenges leave families vulnerable, especially expectant mothers, newborns, and children.
FTK’s Approach
Building Healthier Communities Together
Through close collaboration with local leaders, clinics, and partners, FTK is addressing healthcare challenges in Lower Moshi by:
Expanding maternal and child healthcare: Through initiatives like the MamaBus, we improve immunization coverage and maternal health outreach.
Combating communicable diseases: We support malaria prevention, HIV/AIDS and TB counseling, and access to medicines.
Promoting hygiene and nutrition awareness: We partner with communities to improve sanitation, provide safe water, and raise awareness on family health practices.
Supporting children with disabilities: Ensuring inclusive care and support for children who are often left behind.
Remaining Gaps
While progress is clear, gaps remain:
Immunization coverage is still below target.
High malaria and HIV prevalence continue to threaten families.
Sanitation infrastructure is inadequate for many households.
With expanded resources, we can increase mobile health services, improve clinic access, and strengthen local healthcare systems.
